The World Leasing Yearbook's Global Leasing Report has become the definitive analysis country trading environments and of world trends in asset leasing. The 2010 edition has been launched.

Ed White, author of the White Clarke Global Leasing Report summarises the theme:

"The report has been dominated by the single issue of the global financial meltdown and its associated effects on demand and the availability of capital.

The US Equipment Leasing & Finance Foundation has gone as far as to describe their equipment finance industry as having endured "the worst economic and capital market collapse since the Great Depression".

Although positive growth had largely been maintained during the first half of 2008, the industry finished the year with its first contraction in new business volumes since the hiatus that followed the World Trade Centre attack on September 11, 2001.

Overall, leasing volumes for the top 50 countries in 2008 fell by 15.26% to US$644bn. Nevertheless, this was still a shade ahead of the US$634bn reported just two years earlier, and the pain was far from universal."
