Summary: Lead a team of DBA’s to manage database systems management for White Clarke Group's CALMS product suite. Working primarily on product development & maintenance activities, and project/client support as required.

Description of the role

  • Work with Business Analysts and Technical Leads on database design to meet technical and business requirements
  • Establish and maintain a set of database management policies & procedures
  • Design, build, configure databases on both Windows and UNIX servers
  • Co-ordinate database builds with other project build activities
  • Maintain and support existing databases including backup and restore
  • Design/create tables views and indexes to support application development activities
  • Review DB changes from developers and make sure they meet the standard
  • Optimize and performance tune database in line with project requirements
  • Maintain database security policies
  • Provide strategic direction for database environments to support future needs of the organization
  • Create and maintain data dictionary, scripting standards, architecture diagrams and configurations
  • Breadth in established and emerging data technologies
  • Ability to conceive and portray the big data picture

Requirements of the role

  • Database Administration skills for at least SQLServer and Oracle RDBMS
  • Ability to install, create, configure and size databases as per project requirements
  • Experience with performance analysis and tuning implementation
  • Scripting and DBA task automation skills
  • Database design experience
  • Ability to manage DDL and DML database upgrade and release management
  • Experience of using tools for managing database schema changes; i.e. Liquibase
  • Knowledge of Cloud Database; i.e. AWS RDS, AURORA
  • Basic knowledge of Java is desirable; i.e. able to read a stack trace, hibernate ORM
  • Familiar with Maven and Ant build tools
  • Familiar with the Liquibase database change management tool
  • UML design experience
  • Understanding of implementing ‘high availability’ solutions for SQLServer and/or Oracle
  • GIT experience and basic understanding of the GIT flow
  • Basic knowledge of DevOps methodology; i.e. CI/CD, Docker
